Flash From the Past The Newton Schools Foundation believes in the lasting impact of the many grants we fund. It is always a delight to see this impact first hand, as with the movie “Granite: A Stonecutter’s Canvas”. Back in 1996 a grant was awarded to Maureen O’Hare Mercer, a parent at Underwood school. She joined Chris Murphy, a Newton North teacher, and Bruce Bordett, another Underwood parent, who worked at Lotus. Together they produced the following movie. Today the movie can be viewed on YouTube and TeacherTube. Though made over 12 years ago, this movie is still used by teachers today!
