Foundation Strategy

The Newton Schools Foundation is dedicated to achieving our stated mission through the implementation of our organizations strategy:

1. Foster a close working collaboration with Newton organizations dedicated to the health of the Newton community and our schools. Examples include:
  a. Newton School Committee
  b. Newton Public Schools
  c. PTO Council and local school PTOs
  d. School Councils
  e. Parent Advisory Council for Special Education (PAC)
  f. Chamber of Commerce and our greater business community
  g. Educational institutions of Newton
  h. Religious organizations of Newton
2. Focus on Enhancement of the educational continuum from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Invest across all schools, at all levels to ensure a continuity of experience from elementary to middle to high school.
  a. Professional Development
  b. Curriculum development and continuity
  c. Digitally capable learning environment –the 21st Century Classroom
  d. Attracting and retaining the most capable teachers
3. Encourage Multi-year Initiatives that enhance the educational experience:
  a. Pilot grants that can be replicated
  b. Single school best practices for multi-school benefit
  c. Successful outside programs for import into Newton
  d. Effective learning environments
4. Commitment to support outcome-based evaluation of funded projects
  a. Require declaration of expected outcomes prior to funding
  b. Support ongoing outcomes measurement and analysis
  c. Share outcome results with the community
5. Communicate availability and be receptive to accepting and facilitating the distribution of patron directed funds that are consistent with the mission of the Foundation. Gifts may be directed to:
  a. Long term endowment funds
  b. Short term support for specific school based initiatives
